Description
Slab of medium thickness w woman (?maenad) in relief facing l, standing on tiptoe & wearing peplos w long overfold reaching to hip; lower skirt of peplos pulled across leg to clump of folds held by left hand below buttock & falling along back of leg; fuller mass of folds in front of body, presumably held by missing r hand; folds articulated in archaistic version of late 5th c “wet drapery” tradition. Back flat.
State of Preservation
Very irregularly rectangular w original edge pres behind figure, other edges broken. Most of figure pres from just below waist, higher up on left arm; tips of toes chipped off. Considerable chipping of outer pres edge, sporadic chipping elsewhere. Slight incrustation.
