Description
Plaque of medium thickness w relief figure of pudgy child, probably a Cupid, riding dolphin which arches up out of waves; Cupid holds dolphin fin in l hand; features of dolphin’s head well articulated, including ruff of fins behind eyes; light articulation of surfaces of side fins; toes of Cupid articulated. Waves articulated below dolphin and half of 7-petalled palmette at finished edge behind figures. Below figures raised ridge of rect section from which projects a bit of finished , squared off lower edge of plaque. Back flat.
State of Preservation
Roughly squarish plaque w r edge finished, most of lower edge and all of other edges broken. Cupid broken off up from shoulders and tip of tail and nose of dolphin broken off. Heavy chipping of outer finished edge, sporadic chipping of surface,
