Description
Large vertical loop handle w crescentic sheath decorated w central shoulder bust of Jupiter below which imperial eagle; details of hair, beard, face & dress of Jupiter & wing feather, head & legs of eagle w linear articulation; Small finger depressions in center of back of handle & inside base of sheath.. Completely coated with orangish-red slip.
State of Preservation
Handle & sheath only pres.; restored from 4 fragments. Tips of crescent badly worn w some chipping; paint worn especially on l side. Much grayish incrustation.
